Understanding Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

HCM is the most common inherited cardiovascular disorder, affecting approximately 1 in 500 individuals worldwide. However, only about 1 in 3,200 people in the United States are diagnosed with HCM and experience symptoms.1

Treatment options vary depending on the symptoms but can include beta blockers and surgery. These therapies indirectly improve symptoms of HCM. Despite current pharmacotherapies, invasive surgery may be required to reduce thickened myocardium.
